What is Within You was born to help you start this moment, right where you are this moment and make your life better. Not only that, but showing you that only you have that power anyway and that you can do it with what you have right now.
This site is a place where you can find some tools to get to know yourself and find out what your next steps are, no matter where you are. In learning to walk with people through their grief, I have learned that there is not one way out, there is not one prescription for mental well being.
“If you bring forth what is within you, what is within you will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what is within you will destroy you.”
Gospel Of St. Thomas Logion 70
I heard this quote sometime in High School, I remember I made a sign and put it on my wall, I knew it was true, I knew it was important. It is my purpose to help you feel at ease in the world. I know that the way to do that is to be bringing forth what is within you. I help people do this every day, it’s amazing. I also know that you can do it on your own, there are obstacles, but it is possible. Eckart Tolle says that you either find a teacher or you learn through suffering. A teacher is one who enlightens. So, you either find something/someone that shows you the truth, or you keep suffering until you learn it that way. Only you know the way for you to create the path that allows you to bring forth what is within you, even if you don’t know it yet.
When you are doing What Is Within You, you feel “in the flow”, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is easy, it just means that you have a feeling like you’re where you’re supposed to be, or at least you aren’t struggling. And it isn’t always something grand, sometimes the next thing that is within you is dishes, or a book, or a dance, or a load of laundry, or a business plan, or a walk, etc. It’s right this moment, tuning into yourself.
Anything that you do can help you access what is within you, there are indicators, like you feel joy or peace. Looking back to when you were a kid and did things just for joy can help. For example, I loved gymnastics when I was a kid, I only recently realized that in some ways, yoga is like grown up gymnastics. There’s a part of What Is Within Me to take care of, and challenge my body in those ways. Yoga has been a very important teacher and coping skill for me, and now I use what I have learned to help people. (More on that later, check out my pinterest board on yogaXXX for some ideas). Joy and peace are like signposts that you’re in your flow, you’re bringing What Is Within You out into the world.
There are some tools that work well for a lot of people, so I’ve put some here to give you a place to start on your own, I’m starting with meditation and writing. Look through this site, pick out a few things that speak to you, trust yourself, only you know what is within you. It’s a tremendous amount of power, it can be scary and intimidating, that’s why it’s so important that it’s right now, this minute, you have something yearning to see light, and it’s the key to feeling in the flow and feeling at ease in the world.
